Big Idea:
We cannot earn our way to God, there is nothing we can do to make God love us more than He already does. That is what the gift of God’s grace is all about.

Tonight’s Speaker:
Called a “C.S. Lewis for the 21st century” by Newsweek, Dr. Timothy Keller is founder and pastor of New York’s Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhattan. Over the past 20 years, the church has grown to five services at three sites, with a weekly attendance of over 5,000. Named one of the Top 25 Most Influential Churches in America, Keller’s ministry is notable not only for winning over New Yorkers who are skeptical to faith, but also for its missional approach, planting more than 100 churches though the Redeemer Church Planting Center. He is the New York Times bestselling author of The Reason for God: Belief in an Age of Skepticism, The Prodigal God (which tonight’s talk is based on), and Counterfeit Gods: The Empty Promises of Money, Sex, and Power, and the Only Hope that Matters. You can learn more about him at his website at www.thereasonforgod.com.

  • Get baptized on July 24th
  • Identify which son you are in the story: the younger son wants the things that God provides but not God. While the older son cares about God’s things, he doesn’t really care about God or His heart.
