The book of Hebrews was written to Jewish Christians who were being persecuted for their faith. Thrown in prison, made fun of, sometimes, killed for following Jesus. In the midst of this, they wanted to go underground, fade into the shadows. The writer of Hebrews writes to them, encouraging them to not quit, to stay above ground, continuing following Jesus in the midst of persecution. The reason:  Jesus. He points to Jesus over and over as the reason to stick with it, to continue in the midst of persecution. He tells them, “It’s about Jesus. It’s always about Jesus. It’s only about Jesus.”

Note: This message was presented in two parts during the service, and involved an actor dressed as a high priest and, briefly, a live goat.
