<title>Jesus Changes Everything: For God So Loved You (John 3:16-21)</title>
<description>All of us have things in our life we would like to change. It might be a relationship, how we handle money, our career, marriage, dating life or an addiction or hurt that we can&#039;t seem to shake.

Regardless of what it is, chances are good you have agonized over it, spent time thinking about it, read books, tried new fad ideas, only to come up empty.

In 2013 at Revolution Church we are going to be looking at a very simple book of the Bible. The book of John was written by one of Jesus&#039; closest friends and looks at the idea of how Jesus Changes Everything.

Think for a minute, what would your life be like if Jesus really did change everything? Not just everything, but that one thing you want to change in your life? That&#039;s what we&#039;ll be looking as we go through the gospel of John.

Big Idea: God loves us before we sin, not in spite of our sin.

Next Steps:

<title>Image is Everything: Victory in Christ (Ephesians 6:10-24)</title>
  <description>Image is Everything.

Those words describe so much of how we live our lives. We all care deeply about what other people think about us. From our clothes, to our hair, our house, the way our kids dress and behave, how much money we make. Deep down we wonder if we stack up, if we have what it takes.

In business, we wonder if we can climb to the top, make more money than everyone else, to be the best. With our bodies, we push and push to be skinnier, wear the latest clothes, have the trendy haircut. All for others to be jealous of us. With our kids, we push them to live out the dreams we failed to reach, to climb to the top of their class, all to have the life we never had.

In the end, we end up as lost as when we started.

Many of us spend our whole lives trying to figure out who we are. Or, trying to be someone else. Whether we put up a fascade of a life on Facebook, pretend our marriage is better than it really is, act like we aren&#039;t as hurt or as lonely as we really are.

What if there was a truth that changed everything about how we saw ourselves?

What if, the way God saw us changed everything?

Big Idea: We are in a serious battle with a very real enemy seeking to destroy the people and the work of God, but Jesus has promised ultimate victory and laid out the way His followers are to defend against such serious opposition.

Next Steps:
*I began a relationship with Jesus today
*I&#039;d like to talk to someone about beginning a relationship with Jesus
*I want to get baptized on January 20th
*I&#039;m coming back on January 13th for the start of the &quot;Meaning&quot; series

<description>Ever feel like your marriage is just a fight? That parenting feels like a war? That sometimes you are fighting just to keep it together.

If so, you are in good company as that&#039;s where so many couples and families find themselves. But, how do you move forward from that? How do you fight to make it work and actually see progress?

Join us on December 2nd, 9th and 16th at Revolution Church as we look at the one truth that changes makes marriage and family work. You will not want to miss it as we discover the one thing that makes marriage and family work.

<title>Image is Everything: Satisfied (Ephesians 5:15-21)</title>

Big Idea: Because we are filled with the spirit, thankfulness, gratitude and contentment are descriptive words of a follower of Jesus.

Next Steps:
*I began a relationship with Jesus today
*I&#039;d like to talk to someone about beginning a relationship with Jesus
*Instead of buying myself something this Christmas, I&#039;m going to give to the Christmas Offering.
*I need prayer to because I find my satisfaction in _________ and want to find satisfaction in Jesus
*I want to get baptized on December 16th
*I&#039;m bringing someone on December 2nd for Man vs Wife

<title>Image is Everything: Reconciliation and Freedom (Ephesians 2:11-22)</title>

Big Idea: Peace is found in proximity to God, which comes through Jesus

<title>Jonah and David: Jonah, Defining the Big Stuff</title>
<description>How do we respond to the big things in life? Are there any examples in Scripture that give us a window into how we should respond?

Join us for a two week look at two of the most recognized lives from the Bible.

What do you see as the “Big Thing” in your life? It is easy in the book of Jonah to think that the big thing is the fish, when his anger toward God and desire to be lord of his own life was the biggest issue. In the book of Jonah we see God use a Storm, a Big Fish and a worm to address and begin healing Jonah’s heart.</description>

  <title>Weird: Four Questions</title>
<description>When you hear the word weird, images of Lady Gaga come to mind, or if you are older, Weird Al. Weird is something you do in our culture to define yourself, to stand out, in an effort to be indefinable by friends and family, to beat to your own drum.

According to the Dictionary, Weird means something or suggesting something involving the supernatural, unearthly or uncanny, fantastic or bizarre.

According to Scripture, when someone thinks of a follower of Jesus, the word weird should come to mind. According to 1 Peter 2, we are aliens, exiles on earth.

This spring at Revolution Church, we are going to preach through the books of 1 &amp; 2 Peter and look at this idea of being weird. We will look at how we truly follow Jesus in a way that causes people to ask questions, in a way that says we don’t belong. We will do this by looking at how we live when it comes to trial and pain, submitting to authority (godly and ungodly), in marriage, as a single, when dealing with sin in our lives and to finish off 2 Peter, we will spend 4 weeks looking at how this topic deals with heaven, hell and the afterlife.

You can find the study guide for this series at http://www.tucsonrevolution.com/mediafiles/weird-study-guide.pdf

Big Idea:
*We mustn&#039;t build our identity based on our experiences, accomplishments, or relationships; rather &quot;Who God is&quot; and &quot; What God has done&quot; must capture our minds and hearts, giving us our identity (&quot;Who are we&quot;) and sending us out on mission (&quot; What we do.&quot;)

Next Steps
*Join a missional community
*I&#039;d like to dedicate my child on June 9th
*Get baptized on June 16th

<title>Weird: The Kind of Person God Uses (1 Peter 5:1-4)</title>

<title>Weird: When Life Doesn&#039;t Go as Planned (1 Peter 1:6-12)</title>

Big Idea:
*God is able to use the trials and hardships in our lives to transform us and get us to where he wants us

Next Steps:
*Get baptized on February 11th

Big Idea:
*We place our hope for love, security and peace in people, careers, money, sex and relationships. Yet, only one thing can bring us the hope we long for.
Questions for discerning the idols of your heart:
1. What do I worry about?
2. What do I use to comfort myself when life gets tough or things don&#039;t go my way?
3. What, if I lost would make me think life wasn&#039;t worth living?
4. What do I daydream about?
5. What makes me feel the most self-worth?
6. What do I lead with in conversations?
7. Early on, what do I want to make sure people know about me?
8. What prayer, unanswered would seriously make me consider walking away from God?
9. What do I really want and expect out of life?
10. What is my hope for the future? What will complete me?

Next Steps:
*Memorize 1 Corinthians 15:57 - 58
*Work through the &quot;Idol of the Heart&quot; questions

<title>Hope: The Megaphone of Hope (John 17:1-4)</title>
<description>Life isn&#039;t easy. We experience problems and setbacks every day. But during the hardest parts of life, when the bottom seems to fall out, where do we turn for peace? Although God doesn&#039;t offer any easy solutions, He does offer Himself and His cross as an anchor of hope no matter what we face in life. And more than simply enduring suffering, the hope we find in Him allows us to leverage our darkest moments for His fame. When life hurts most, the world listens most intently to our message, allowing us to broadcast through our pain the goodness of the One who loves us the most.

On December 31 and January 7, we will start a new year at Revolution with a 2 week series called Hope When Life Hurts the Most. We will explore what we do when we hit rock bottom.

Big Idea:
* Our confidence in the hope we have in Christ during the hard times is powerful enough to point others to God.

<title>Light and Shadows: Hero (Jude 1:24-25)</title>
<description>As we head into the Christmas season at Revolution Church, we will be spending 3 weeks going through the book of Jude. Because we are celebrating the birth of Christ, Jude is a great book to look at. The reason is that Jude calls followers of Jesus to contend for the faith, to persevere and live differently because of what Jesus did.

One of the main themes of Jude, a book that takes up one page in the Bible, is that it is easy for our culture and sin to pervert our belief. This is seen most clearly in the month of December, as we near Christmas. Followers of Jesus say Scripture calls us to be generous, to be humble, to live a pure lifestyle (which is true), but we don&#039;t always see that. We see followers of Jesus being stingy, greedy, spending thousands of dollars at Christmas.

What Jude shows us is how we live shows if the gospel has changed us, if we&#039;ve been truly saved.

Big Idea:
*We are drawn to stories with heroes and even long for one in our own life. Scripture tells us that Jesus is the hero of our story, not us.

<title>Manifest: Manifesting the Gospel in the World (Titus 3:1-15)</title>
<description>What does your life say about the gospel? Do people look at your life and think, &quot;There&#039;s something different about their life. They live by a different standard, a different set of goals, dreams.&quot; Or do they see someone much like themselves: Living for themselves, their comfort, seeking to control their life, pursuing the American dream. These are some of the questions we&#039;ll encounter in the short New Testament letter, Titus. In it, the apostle Paul writes to Titus, one of his protege&#039;s and shares with him how to lead a young and growing church. Much like Revolution, Titus is a young church planter, in a city and he is striving to lead a community of people to be on mission to that city. To saturate that city with the gospel instead of the city saturating the church with their gospel.

Big Idea
* The reality of the gospel should be seen in the midst of our lives, actions, thoughts, and emotions.

Next Steps

<title>Manifest: Manifesting the Gospel in the Mess (Titus 1:10 - 16)</title>

Big Idea
* Our identity in the gospel stems not from who we have been and what we do, but who we have been made to be by what Jesus has done.

Recommended Resources

<title>Uprising: The Purpose and the Power of the Gospel (Ephesians 2:1-10)</title>
<description>Every year, we do a vision series where we lay out clearly what Revolution is all about. This series is going to be where we go into even more detail about being a church planting church, what it takes to saturate the city of Tucson with the gospel and how our move to Missional Communities will help to facilitate that.

We will look specifically at what the New Testament calls us followers of Jesus to be and do, what we are called to as a church and how we live that out 7 days a week. Church is not something we do on Saturday&#039;s, it is something we are 7 days a week.

Big Idea
The gospel saves us from something (sin), for something (life).

Next Steps
* Memorize Romans 1:16 - 17
