Missional Life
Jesus of Nazareth came to this world on a mission. He was not looking for the fit, the found, or the righteous. His mission was not about starting a ministry that would produce programs to be consumed by nice, attractive, middle-class suburban couples with 2.5 kids. He wasn't starting a country club with nice, painted iron gates. The church Jesus founded is given calling to storm the gates of hell. The church He founded was not a place for people to get fed and just have faith but a place for His followers to be equipped and sent to the ends of the earth to save the lost. He calls us to be on the mission with Him.
Missional is something you will hear a lot about if you come to Revolution. It is our belief that the church is not just supposed to exist within the four walls of a building and it is not just a series of beliefs and values alone. The church is to be out in the world creating a change in the values that people hold and helping to make our city and its inhabitants better because Revolution Church is here.
Many churches function around the idea that building up belief and knowledge about God is what we are supposed to do. Jesus said "Come follow me." He told the church to go find the people that are lost and help them find their way back to God. Our desire is to go into the circles that we inhabit in our daily lives and be the church within the greater community. We call this "Go & Be."
To accomplish this we look for ways to be involved in the lives of the people that we encounter every day. We do that by connecting with organizations here in Tucson and in other parts of the world and working alongside of them to serve in the mission that Jesus began over two thousand years ago. This means our desire is not necessarily to see people find Jesus and come to Revolution so that we can build a big church community but rather to find Jesus and help to build the Kingdom of God here on earth.
