What do I do at Revolution?
I oversee the student ministry at Revolution. This means that I plan the weekly discussion for the students, oversee the small group leaders, plan summer camps, and help the students as they learn how to trust Jesus with the drama of teenage life.
I've been involved with several student ministries over the years, in both large churches and smaller. Having a teenage daughter currently, and another daughter who is now an adult, helps me understand many of the struggles that young people today are dealing with. They also remind me that their generation faces different pressures than my generation, and although I can speak to the youth from my experience, I also have to approach things from their perspective. The fact that I've 'been there, done that' means I can help the students as they walk through whatever season they find themselves in.
Tell us about your family
I married my beautiful wife Zulema in May of 1999, and we have two beautiful daughters. The oldest daughter, Zoe, is currently serving in the U.S. Navy, and Emery, our youngest, is almost finished with High School.
What do you do for fun?
I love the outdoors. I am always ready for a hike, camping trip, hunting, or fishing. If I'm not doing something outdoors, then I'm either reading, cooking, or trying to catch up on sleep.
What bands are you listening to right now?
I have VERY eclectic tastes, depending on my mood. I love anything classical, such as Tchaikovsky, Handel, Wagner, etc. Other times I'll listen to Pantera, Metallica, AC/DC. I absolutely love bagpipe music, and am currently learning to play the pipes. I like country, classic rock, pop rock (some), gypsy violin, and most Christian music (if it's not overplayed to death)
Who are your favorite authors?
I mostly read Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels, and love Orson Scott Card, L.E. Modessit, and Isaac Asimov. I also love reading Louis L'amour, Vince Flynn, and Robert Ludlum. I also enjoy reading Francis Chan, David Platt, and Andy Stanley.
